There are two key concepts regarding the architecture at Eden Rock – the first is about addressing the environment (from a green perspective and by designing each home to uniquely address each individual site) and the second is about creativity.
Eden Rock is a unique development and we’d like to keep it that way, into the future. Sustainability isn’t just about financial longevity; it’s also about designing buildings that won’t date. You can download the architectural guidelines for a comprehensive overview of technical details, and a few examples.
But essentially, the architecture is unique, infusing modern technology with traditional thought processes and indigenous style ‚Äì the term ‘sensual design’ best outlines the focus on individualised designs that take each site’s individual fauna, flora, sounds, textures, orientation and slope into account.
The idea is not to merely create camouflaged homes, but designs that also complement the surrounding environment. This can be addressed by orchestrating horizontal and vertical lines that emulate the shadows and shapes of the forest and bush. Colours and textures can be used to soften or enhance specific lines, creating many-faceted elevations that almost dance within the space.
